Edgehill College and WAVE

Edgehill Theological College through its Reconciliation Programme, has established a link with WAVE, an initiative that organises projects in disadvantaged communities in South East Europe and seeks to build bridges between divided communities in the region and beyond. With the help of volunteers from around the world, WAVE provides two week courses (in most cases English courses) as well as follow up courses throughout the entire year which include social events, lectures, trips and counselling. Through the programme the local community, local church and volunteers are impacted as relationships are built and reconciliation is promoted.
Edgehill College has developed placements with WAVE for its ministerial students. In January 2012, two students, along with Scott Boldt, will visit WAVE in Tuzla, Bosnia. During their time in Tuzla they will be teaching classes, volunteering where needed, joining in the activity of a local congregation and learning from the local context.
How did Wave start?
WAVE began as a small project that was supposed to take place only once and only in one country. From the very beginning WAVE proved to be an effective and economical project, one that can in a short period of time (a few weeks) make a huge difference in the lives of many people. Today WAVE is active in more and more countries and runs a program throughout the whole year.
