In Service Training For Lay Workers

Developing training and support for those employed in the life of the Church

Many Methodist Circuits are now employing Pastoral or Community Workers to share in the ministry of their congregation(s).  The role of the Training and Development Officer at Edgehill is to assist Lay Workers in the development of skills required for their particular ministry.

We also recognise the importance of building a network of support for all involved in Lay Ministry.  To this end, regular training days, seminars and retreats are organised.

Details of events planned for 2009/10 to be posted soon.

Lay Workers' Retreat - 'Time Out'

Recognising the importance of setting aside time to meet with other Lay Workers, the Training and Development Officer has responsibility for organising an annual retreat for Lay Workers.  This allows time for personal development, reflection on the nature of lay ministry and Christian leadership in the Church, and provides an opportunity for prayer and worship.

Details of the next 'Time Out' will be announced soon.

Please note that Youth Workers have their own support system through the Department of Youth and Children's Work.

If you are a lay worker with a Methodist Church in Ireland and are not receiving mailings from us please talk to your minister or contact the Training and Development Officer at Edgehill.
