Students to visit WAVE in Bosnia
From 21st January 2012 to 1st February, Stephen McCartney and Pauline Whan, ministerial students at Edgehill College, will be visiting WAVE in Tuzla, Bosnia. WAVE is a project that developed out of a desire of a local church to build bridges between religious and ethnic groups in the community. The project seeks to bring people together from diverse backgrounds through English language courses, lectures and community service.
The Reconciliation Programme at Edgehill has developed a relationship with WAVE over the past year with representatives visiting WAVE in April 2011. Pauline and Stephen are the first Edgehill students to participate in this cross cultural experience to Tuzla, Bosnia and will be accompanied by Scott Boldt, the Reconciliation Programme Officer.
During their time with WAVE they will have the opportunity to encounter a new culture, reflect on ministry in a different context, engage with people from other faith traditions and to expand their knowledge about the Balkan region.
Throughout the week their primary responsibilities will be to support the work of WAVE and to help facilitate and teach English classes, participate in church services, attend small group Bible studies, volunteer in a local orphanage ministry and to teach a theology class to new Christians.
